For vendors with a 2018 move in mind it had been announced in the Federal Budget that, from 1 July 2018, people aged 65 and older will be able to make non-concessional (post-tax) contributions of up to $300,000 ($600,000 per couple) from the sale of their principal place of residence, owned for 10 years or more, These new contributions will be in addition to any other voluntary contributions that people are able to make and are exempt from the existing $1.6 million transfer balance cap on retirement contributions.
