Property Case Studies – Interstate

We’d been wanting to invest in residential real estate for quite some time, and thought this was quite a daunting task.  Being Sydneysiders, buying property in our city was financially prohibitive. So we decided to look to Melbourne, the fastest growing city in Australia, with excellent infrastructure, great culture and cafes, and a place we really enjoy visiting. The problem was we didn’t know the intricacies of the Melbourne property market, and the potential to make a bad decision was very high.

In my line of work, I had on occasions used a buyers agent, to great success. I considered that in my professional life, I wouldn’t dream of making major financial decisions without good advice.  So why would things be any different in my personal life?  Mike McNamara, of Strategic Buyers Agents (SBA) was referred to me as someone who could be trusted to act in our interest.  We had identified the area in Melbourne we were interested in.  Mike did his research and gave us a list of properties, which he arranged for us to see on the one day we were in Melbourne.  Every property we saw that day met our brief, and so we didn’t waste any time, and in fact we chose the first property we saw which was perfect for us.

Mike followed through on every aspect of the purchase. He negotiated the price for us which in itself paid for his fees.  He referred us to a conveyancing firm, to quantity surveyors to provide depreciation schedules, to leasing agencies, to insurance brokers, and the list goes on.

The whole experience has been incredibly smooth, thanks to Mike.  This gave us great peace of mind knowing that someone was there who’s interest was our best interest.

Would we use Mike again in the event we make another real estate purchase in Melbourne?  No doubt.  Would we recommend Mike to other buyers?  We already have.
